Astrology: April’s Auspicious Skies

By Catie Cadge, PhD

April features the exact Jupiter and Neptune conjunction on April 12th in Pisces at 23°59’. I have been writing about this big event since late last year. Every twelve years, Jupiter meets up with Neptune in the sky, but this time it is occurring in the watery, intuitive sign of the fishes. Both planets are very strong in Pisces, the sign they co-rule. This tends to make Jupiter’s desire to expand what it touches even stronger. Neptune, in the meantime, has been in Pisces since 2011. Neptune’s orbit is slow, the planet takes 165 years to travel around the Sun, so it is in Pisces roughly every 150 years or so, and lasts in the sign for about fourteen to fifteen years. So, from 2011 to 2026 is a time of possible miscommunication, uncertainty, and delusion, but also a moment of great spiritual development and a rise in psychic sensitivity and connections with the Divine. Need I say more? We certainly have been riding through a period of unclear information and confusion. But are we also in a spiritual awakening? Many would say “yes”!

No matter how you see our current zeitgeist, our current global “mood,” this April puts all of it in the limelight to shine! Jupiter is the culprit. Jupiter loves to do things in a big way! How this conjunction plays a role in your life is best revealed by looking at where it falls in your own natal chart. Opportunities may arise for your own imagination, your creativity, even your enlightenment. A little satori perhaps? Sudden awakening? The Piscean edge gives some a new mastery of their mystical side; listen to the omens, dreams, and psychic impressions you encounter. They will be strong now. For everyone, no matter where the conjunction falls, this is a good time to tap into your own meditation practices and let your heart feel compassion, seek a vision in nature, or just rekindle your own personal way of touching base with “God” or “Goddess” with a capital “G.” Albert Einstein, an agnostic, was a Pisces (born under a Pisces Sun). He managed to find the Divine through his great scientific imagination and through the realms of cosmology. We can all feel the gifts of this cosmic planetary event!

Early April is also Aries season, the Sun is in the fiery sign of taking action and risks in being true to ourselves in defense of causes worthy of our passions. Until April 10th, Mercury is also in Aries, and both sextile Saturn in Aquarius during the month, Mars in a conjunction with Saturn at 22° the first week. The sixty-degree aspect supports putting into action with springtime gusto some of these Piscean feelings of goodwill.

Aries energy lights the spark for both our dreamy creative imaginations under this Piscean time and also builds upon our collective push toward an Aquarian age, one of justice and humanitarian goals. Saturn and Mars say let’s do it and make it real! A Full Moon in Libra at 26°46’ the morning of April 16th squares Pluto in Capricorn. We hope for harmony, calm, and peace, but some old structures still need to go.

The New Moon in Taurus is a call for balance and peace in nature | Image contributed by Catie Cadge

Earth Day is April 22nd, a few days after the Sun enters Taurus on April 19th. Mercury now in Taurus conjuncts the current north node of the Moon on the 23rd. The north node suggests where we are moving collectively in 2022 and in Taurus we are striving to heal the planet, to reconnect with our basic needs as human beings in tune with nature and all her creatures. Venus in Pisces most of the month, starting April 5th, helps us to feel a oneness and a deep compassion for all. Venus conjuncts Neptune, April 27th, and Jupiter on April 30th, the day of a New Moon in Taurus 10°28’, a partial solar eclipse. I love how this New Moon in the sign of the bull reinforces a call to find balance and peace in nature. Perfect for the Earth Day theme of the month!
